The boy shakes his best friend's hand and wills his eyes to express love. He's seen how it's done on the soaps his mother watches, the squinting and forced tears, though there's nothing forced for him. He may never see his friend again.

This book is new to me. I don't think that I would read more. It sounds too introspective for what I'm craving now. My teasers this week are from Iron Hearted Violet by Kelly Barnhill and Pray for Silence by Linda Castillo. Happy reading!

The opening intrigues me. It's interesting that the boy learned how to act from his mother's soap operas! Sounds like an unusual kid.
